Twenty-five years ago, Dan Lindblom's father had terminal cancer at age 62. With only a year to live, he claimed Social Security immediately. But as the primary earner and five years older than Dan's mother, that decision significantly reduced his mother's survivor benefits, cutting their total payout as a family by several hundred thousand dollars.
That mission led him to John Moran, another like-minded American, whom he met in Valencia, Spain. They shared a passion for financial planning and technology — and both had seen firsthand how much money people leave on the table because the Social Security system is so complex.
